A new nature trail was opened in Martinské Hole

On 19 September 2024, a new nature trail was opened in the Lúčanská Mala Fatra, in the Martinské Hole Mountains. The Winter Park Martinky Centre, in cooperation with the Martinky Civic Association and several volunteers, built the Martha the Squirrel Trail.

The trail starts at the house of Marty the squirrel at the Nová Ponorka restaurant, then leads along the forest path to slope number 3, after which it climbs to the Svah buffet and then to the upper station of the chairlift, where there is also a Martinky photo point. From this point, the route continues along the slope to the last stop at the Rotunda, where you can enjoy pleasant views of the mountains of Mala and Veľká Fatra.

The Martha Squirrel Trail is one kilometre long, has an elevation gain of 180 metres and ten stops. A map with previews of the individual points, which present information about the animals living in Mala and Veľká Fatra, can be found on the first panel. The information is also available in English via QR code. The trail is accessible all year round, except during the ski season.

The activity was implemented with the financial contribution of the City of Martin.
