The Turčianske osvetové středisko in Martin was established by the Žilina Self-Governing Region as a contributory organisation on 1 April 2002. From 19 December 2007 it was renamed to Turčianske Cultural Centre. The main mission of the TCC is to create conditions for the development of local culture, arts and crafts activities, preserving traditions and providing cultural and educational activities for a wide range of citizens within the territorial jurisdiction of the districts of Martin and Turčianske Teplice.
It fulfils its main mission by organising cultural events, trainings, seminars, courses, workshops, competitions, festivals and other traditional and non-traditional forms of outreach activities, making available the values of traditional and folk culture and amateur creation, creating conditions for the presentation of culture abroad, reviving traditional crafts, organising educational and leisure activities, editorial and publishing activities.
