Permanent exposition of the railway town Vrútky - Journey through the history of railways

In the heart of the railway town of Vrútky there is a permanent exhibition that offers visitors a unique view of the rich history of the town. The exposition maps the development of the town in different epochs, from prehistoric times to the 20th century.

The exposition is situated on the first floor of the municipal building, where the Hana Zelinova Municipal Library used to be located. The tour includes four rooms, one of which is exclusively dedicated to the railway history of Vrútok, which is a key part of the town's identity.

In addition to the traditional exhibits, visitors can also see video documentaries that bring closer the historical milestones of the railway and important personalities who contributed to the development of Vrútok and its railway junction. The exhibits and multimedia elements together create an interactive and educational experience for all visitors.

Historical background and installation of the exhibition

The installation of the exhibition took place after a comprehensive renovation of the rooms, including the replacement of wiring, lighting, ceilings and floors. The whole project was implemented with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund within the project "The Košice-Bohumín Railway Connected Us". The opening of the exhibition took place in 2021, when Vrútky commemorated the 150th anniversary of the construction of this important railway line, which connected the regions of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Chata pod Chlebom is the perfect place for a trip in every season! 🍃❄️ On sunny days you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas - you will see not only Chleb and the Great Fatranský Kriváň, but also the Western Tatras and Veľký Choč. Directly in front of the chalet you can enjoy a magical view of the ridge of the Low Tatras, Veľká Fatra or Martinské hole. 🏔️

⏱️ Time: approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes

Chata pod Chlebom is an excellent starting point for ski mountaineering tours, which will be enjoyed by beginners and experienced ski mountaineers. The most popular destinations include:
⛷️ Veľký Fatranský Kriváň (1 709 m above sea level)
⛷️ Chleb (1 646 m)

From the ridge you can also go to other beautiful peaks:
🌟 Little Fatranský Kriváň (1 671 m above sea level)
🌟 Poludňový Grúň (1 459 m above sea level)
🌟 Stoh (1 607 m above sea level)

🧑‍🔬 Safety tip: Always check the avalanche danger status and current conditions on the Mountain Rescue Service website before hiking.

✨ Looking for the perfect weekend trip? ✨

Combine spectacular views, fresh air exercise and a gentle challenge! Join us on an adventure through the beautiful nature of Mala Fatra to the Vendovka hut. 🌲🏔️

🗺️ Start of route:
The trip starts in the Sučianska valley, near the Jarolím cottage settlement. From there, a blue hiking trail will take you through the stream and forests until you reach the crossroads of forest roads with a turn-off to Vendovka. Picturesque views, a pleasant climb and the smell of nature await you.

🔹 Cottage Vendovka:
This popular tourist stop offers a short rest area - although it is usually locked, the hallway is often accessible. You'll also find a spring here to refill your water. 🏞️

If you like, you can extend your hike and continue to Malý Kriváň.

📌 Information:
⏳ Duration: the tour takes about 3 hours (one way).
💧 Water and refreshments: don't forget to refill your water at the spring behind the Vendovka hut.
🏠 Accommodation: KST Sučany.
