Museum of Slovak Village in Martin (MSD), located in Jahodnícke háje in Martin, is the largest ethnographic exposition in nature in Slovakia. Slovak National Museum in Martin (SNM) has been building it since the second half of the 1960s as a nationwide exposition of traditional folk architecture, housing and way of life in Slovakia in the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
What can you see?
In the exhibition area of the MSD there are more than 150 residential, economic, technical, social and sacral buildings from the regions of Kysuce - Podjavorníky, Orava, Turiec and Liptov concentrated on an area of 15.5 ha.

- Filagory from Slovenský Pravenovec with valuable paintings from 1792
- Carriage house from Moskovec
Some of the objects are furnished, which gives visitors a glimpse into the everyday life of the inhabitants of northwestern Slovakia in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Ethnographic events and educational programmes for schools
The museum is a place of rich cultural and educational events:
- As it was in the old days - a programme for children from kindergartens and primary schools, in which they will get acquainted with the different parts of the annual festivities (Fasiangs, Easter, Christmas) through interactive storytelling.
- Creative workshops for school groups - focused on simple workflows and techniques that develop artistic expression for children and youth.
- Ethnographic events for the public - demonstrations of traditional folk production, crafts, customs and folklore organised throughout the year.
Jahodnícke háje Civic Association
The museum has been operating since 2004 Jahodnícke háje Civic Associationwhose main goal is the all-round development of the MSD, a national ethnographic exhibition as a modern museum and presentation institution. It focuses on:
- Addressing professional issues of research, documentation and methods of professional work in the field of vernacular building and housing;
- Addressing projects for further construction and operation of MSD;
- Editorial and publishing activities focused on traditional folk culture;
- Cooperation with local and state authorities, social and tourism organisations in favour of the development of regional and cultural tourism; cooperation with national UNESCO cultural organisations (ICOM, AEOM at ICOM, ICOMOS);
- Organizing cultural and social events for the public;
- Exchange of information, professional, cultural and social activities with domestic and foreign organizations of similar focus
