Czech traces in Turci: Exhibition about Czech personalities in Martin and its surroundings

Discover the stories of Czech personalities who left indelible traces in Martin and the Turiec region. Exhibition Czech tracks in Turci presents the rich history of Czech-Slovak relations through the lives and works of architects, doctors, teachers and directors who shaped the cultural and social image of the city.

Martin, known as the centre of political and cultural life in Slovakia in the 19th century, became a natural meeting place for Slovak and Czech intellectual elites. Already at the end of the 19th century, businessmen, experts and artists from Bohemia came here and contributed significantly to the development of the region. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, this flow intensified when Czech professionals came to the town to fill key positions in the state administration, education and health care.

At the exhibition in Museum of Czech Culture in Slovakia visitors will get acquainted not only with the most famous personalities, such as Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Alice Masaryk or Jaroslav Vodrážka, but also with lesser-known figures who deserve our attention - František Mareš, Albert Urban, Bohuš Šippich and others.
