Local museum in Turany: Celebrating history and nature
The local museum in Turany is a place where history intertwines with nature and rich culture. The establishment of the museum was not accidental - it was closely connected with the upcoming celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the granting of town privileges to Turany. This event created the space for the plans to create a permanent institution that would document the history of Turian and its inhabitants to come to fruition.
A place of historical value:
The space for the museum was obtained thanks to the privatization of the local company Drevina, when part of its property was in the hands of the local government. The original factory club ROH Drevina became the home of our museum, which today belongs to the official network of museums of the Slovak Republic.
Opening and first exposures:
On 29 August 1997 the museum opened its doors to the public, presenting two permanent exhibitions - "Old Turany" and "Nature". These exhibitions are still the main attraction today, but over time they have been enriched with new exhibits that provide an even deeper insight into the past and the beauty of the nature around Turiany.
Preserving history for future generations:
Since its inception, the museum has been dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of Turian, with a special focus on the timber giant Drevina, whose roots date back to 1887. Although today Drevina, along with many other local businesses and institutions, is a thing of the past, its importance has not been forgotten. This is precisely the museum's main task - to preserve and communicate history so that our past will live on for future generations.

- Nature - Fauna and flora of the Turian area.
- Fish and fishing - Traditions and life around rivers and ponds.
- Bazovsky and Turany - A prominent figure in connection with our region.
- History of skiing in Turci - Development of winter sports in the area.
- Children's corner - A space for the youngest visitors where they can discover history in a playful way.
- Yesterday's technique - Collection of historical technical equipment and tools.
- Clothing in the past - Traditional clothing of our ancestors.
- History of sport - Focused on the importance of sport in Turany and its surroundings.
