Veľký Kriváň in Mala Fatra (1 709 m above sea level)

The Great Krivan is the highest peak Little Fatra and offers magnificent panoramic views of the wide surroundings. It is located in the main ridge of the mountains, in the central part of Krivanska Fatra. In the west it is adjacent to the mountain The Inferno (1 609 m above sea level). In the east, it can be reached from the Bread (1 645.6 m above sea level) separates Snilov saddle (1 524 m above sea level).

When ascending the Veľký Kriváň you will overcome more than 1 200 vertical metres. This is more than when climbing the Tatra Krivan from Štrbské Pleso. This challenging hike will test you, but will reward you with breathtaking views of Turiec and the surrounding countryside.

Tourist route to Veľký Kriváň:

  • Hrabinka, motor inn - Zajacová (720 m) - Ploštiny (1 112 m) - Cottage pod Chlebom (1 415 m) - Snilov saddle (1 524 m) - crossing to the red marker - Edge of Veľký Kriváň (1 650 m) - The Great Krivan (1 709 m)
  • Output length: approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes
