The world of children's imagination

18. April 2023 - 1. October 2023

Who wouldn't know the miniature figures we used to look forward to as children, eagerly unwrapping chocolate until we came to the notorious orange egg. And in it - a surprise! A whiff of such nostalgia is brought to you by the exhibition The World of Children's Fantasy, which you can see at the Andrej Kmet Museum from 18 April to 1 October 2023. Within the exhibition, you will get acquainted with the collection of Kinder egg toys that Ľuboš Richtárech has been collecting for more than 30 years. In that time, he has collected more than 12,000 pieces, and you can add to his collection too.

And how did it all start in the first place?

In 1946, the Ferrero company was founded, producing famous confectionery such as Mon Cherri, Nutella, Duplo and other goodies. Later, it started producing products with children's surprises. And so, in 1974, the first Kinder egg was created. In 1983, a programme was introduced with a series of hand-painted figurines and a paper with a picture of the whole series, so that the collector would know what he was still missing.

The second part of the exhibition consists of illustrations of fairytale heroes for young and old from the workshop of Tomáš Dobřík. In his professional life he is devoted to designing playgrounds and recreation areas for public spaces. He focuses primarily on the children's world with an emphasis on play, education and relaxation. The exhibition captures a cross-section of his illustration work of the last years and shows the entire creative process from the first idea, through the various stages of design to the final product or realization.
