Karol Plicka: Paintings of the Earth - Exhibition at the Slovak National Museum in Martin
From 7 February 2025, the Slovak National Museum in Martin - Ethnographic Museum will present a long-term exhibition Karol Plicka: Paintings of the Earth, which is the largest and most comprehensive presentation of the work of this important photographer, filmmaker and collector of folk songs.
The exhibition offers more than 450 unique photographs from the 1920s-1960s. In addition to shots of Slovakia, there will also be images from Bohemia and Moravia. You can also admire the nature, architecture and people that dominate his work in the film The ground singswhich will be screened in full length.
Visitors can also see the personal objects of Karol Plicka, including his photo equipment, violin, viola and books. The exhibition thus provides a glimpse not only of his artistic output, but also of his extraordinary personality.
