There are places in Turiec where the painter autumn will have a lot of fun. One of such places is Martinské Hole. Until recently, they were known to the general public mainly as a winter sports centre. After the construction of the HZS ferrata, they have become a popular location in other seasons as well. However, from mid-September to the end of October there is a seasonal closure on the ferrata.
And that is when autumn comes with its colours and conjures up incredible, colourful scenery on the hills, which attracts and surprises visitors.
Indeed, it is worth coming here at this time of year. Often the valley is still drowning in a sea of fog, when the sun's rays are already fully illuminating the slopes of the mountains bursting with colour. Carpets of blueberries glow orange and red. The withered grasses still yellow in the lower spots, faded almost to white on the ridge. The blueness of the blue sky and the rich green of the irises complete this painterly masterpiece of nature. As if before the mountains hide under a white blanket, she still wanted to show off all her colourful clothes, which she had pulled out of the wardrobe at the last minute.
Martinské Hole is a really attractive tourist destination at this time. You can get here on foot from Martin - Strání by the yellow marked hiking trail. A nice, but longer, blue-marked trail leads from the village of Bystrička. But you can also go to Martinské Hole by car. And from the car park you can take a relaxing trip, for example, to Veľká lúka ( 1475 m above sea level) and then further along the ridge to Veterné. It is a hill with amazing views of Kľak in the distance, the ridge of Mala Fatra, Turiec and Rajecka valley. If you arrive here in the afternoon, you can wait for a romantic sunset after returning to Veľká Lúka.
