Learn at the museum!

You don't have to wait until school starts to learn new skills. You can also spend your summer holidays and the beginning of the school year in a useful way by visiting the Museum of the Slovak Village. We have prepared for you the second year of the educational programme Learn at the museum!, during which you will get acquainted with various works and traditional crafts, which you will also be able to actively try. Educational programme Learn at the museum!, realized with the financial support of the town of Martin, will bring visitors closer to various topics of everyday and working life of our ancestors. A series of educational programmes will take place during five weekend days: 13 July, 3 and 11 August, 29 September and 5 October 2024 from 10.00 to 16.00 at the Museum of the Slovak Village.

At the first meeting Saturday 13 July 2024 you will gain practical knowledge and skills in blacksmithing, trough making, weaving, flax spinning, honey-making and the production of figures from the scales from the masters of folk crafts themselves. We will show you how tools such as scythes, scythes and hoes were once sharpened. In addition, visitors will be able to to compete in "throwing gnocchi" and taste eight different types of gnocchi specialties.
