The Night of Theatres is held annually, always on the third Saturday of November, when the programme in theatres all over Slovakia runs until late at night. On 18 November, theatres, cultural centres and art schools open their doors and backstage areas during the evening and night hours to demonstrate their openness to new impulses and inspirations. The idea of the joint event was initiated by French theatre artists and was first implemented as a pilot programme on 25 October 2008 at the Dubrava Children's Theatre in Zagreb and the Šibenik Theatre. The opportunity to present a theatre programme in a different way than on weekdays brings together hundreds of theatres and thousands of audiences across Europe every year. In Slovakia, it is coordinated by the Theatre Institute in Bratislava.

The Slovak Chamber Theatre Martin took part in the Night of Theatres again this year and prepared a rich programme for the audience:

As early as 14:00, visitors will be delighted by the popular guided tours of the theatre led by the theatre director Tibor Kubička. Participants will become a part of the life in the theatre, see places they cannot get to during the normal theatre operation. They will have the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the historic building, to see the actors' dressing rooms and the storage of costumes, furniture and props.

In the 22/23 season SKD Martin has prepared a triptych called RE:CYCLE, which includes the productions Iokasté, Hecuba and Bač's Wife. All three are united not only by the premise of the ancient tragedy and a strong central female character, but also by the common scenic concept of director Lukáš Brutovský and set designer Pavel Borák, in which all three productions take place in one space that undergoes only minimal changes. As part of the Night of Theatres, SKD Martin will present the entire production triptych RE:CYCLE and within all three productions not only three different types of dramaturgy (author's text, contemporary play, Slovak classics), but also the entire acting ensemble of SKD Martin.
